Overall Appearance:
height
Standing at his tallest Cory is five foot seven inches. He was never one of the tall kids growing up and he's learned to accept that. It's one of those things that you either learn to live with or it'll always be around to bring you down and he chose to accept it. He does look a little bit short, but only when compared to other people. Just him walking alone and he seems like he's a normal sort of height. He's one of those famous "you look shorter in person" sort of people. As far as he's concerned he's not strangely short and fat and he's not strangely tall and super skinny, so he's fine just the way that he stands and if anybody has a problem with that, well, they can just take that up with him and that would guarantee a nice little punch to the jaw because that's the only way he finds he's able to block out what other people think of him.
general build
As far as body type goes, he's slightly on the muscular side of things. He wouldn't go as far as to say he's some sort of a body builder, but he takes care of himself. The last thing that he wants is to end up getting really fat and then hating himself for that. His normal build doesn't leave him to be the skinniest guy around town, but he's more then fine with that. In his mind being skinny is just a little bit overrated and he's glad to not naturally be that way. Sure that means that if he wants to eat his brains out all day he's probably going to gain a pound or two, but he'll live in the end. Most of the time he's working it off a few hours later anyway, so there really is no worry about how he'll end up looking in five years.
hair eyes and face
When is comes to hairstyle, Cory really doesn't think about it. Sure he knows that he doesn't like his hair super short or anything like that, but when he wakes up in the morning he usually just goes with it. He's had a few interesting cuts here and there, but mostly he just lets it grow out to a bit of a shag and is fine with that. When it comes to haircuts he really just puts them off as long as he can until he can get a friend to do it for free since he isn't willing to cough up the cash for a decent cut anymore. Eyes are one of those things that he believes make a person look the way that they do. As far as his eyes are concerned, he likes them. They're not huge, though there are people that will tell him otherwise. Basically they're nothing special except brown eyes, but he likes them. A few lines can be found around them, but that's something that you really can't help and well, he does happen to use wrinkle cream for fear that he's starting to look older then he actually is. In his mind they compliment his strong face. His face is mostly oval shaped with a strong jawline. He has what he feels is a normal sized nose and really there isn't anything that he'd consider odd about his general appearance as far as face goes at all.
style
Style wise, Cory dresses a lot like the other guys his age. He falls in line with the other tight wearing guys that are popping up all over the place. He's dressed the same since he was probably about sixteen. While he doesn't wear super tight jeans, they're not exactly the roomiest around. Usually paired with these jeans is a band shirt and on top of that would usually go a sweatshirt. Sweatshirts, those really were the key part in his wardrobe. No matter how hot or cold it is he'll probably have one at hand. No matter how dim things are looking in his life he seems to always own about a million and one different sweatshirts and puts all of them to use. Really he just likes to be comfortable in the end. He buys what he can afford and every now and then he'll splurge a bit. He wears hats from time to time as well as glasses, but other then that he really isn't much of an accessory sort of guy. For shoes he usually wears either a pair of either converse or nikes. Really whatever shoes he happens to pull out for the day he'll wear and sometimes they're complete shit and other times they look pretty new. Other then his sweatshirts it's probably one of the most unpredictable part of his wardrobe.
tattoos
As far as tattoos go, Cory is basically covered with them. How he got so many he really can't explain, they just sort of slowly added up over the years. The first one that he ever got was one that is on his ankle. It was when he was in middle school sitting in the back of class that he gave it to himself. Really he'd just gone ahead and drug a needle into the side of his ankle before cracking his pen opened and pouring the ink onto the wound. That was a rather horribly done one, but it was still something that he wouldn't get rid of. His first real tattoo was the earth on his back. From there the ink really just seemed to slowly add up. There's a sleeve of nightmare before christmas characters, a bat skull piece on his hips, a 2nd on his left middle finger, barbed wire across his chest, free sign on his lower right wrist, an owl, the unlovable sign/lock on his left upper arm, the 2*R on his knuckles, and well, there are even more then that. The ink is still deep in his skin and he's still ready to go ahead and get himself a few more because it really is one of his passions at this moment in time. Tattoos are his life and have become ever since he first started to learn how to do them and well, he's happy to be covered with ink and won't regret a single one for the rest of his life.

Overall Personality:
the nerd
Based solely on looks nobody in the world would ever believe that this kid is probably the biggest nerd that you'll ever meet. He knows a few big words and things like that, but that doesn't mean that he's one of the smartest people on the face of this earth. Really he just happens to like things that other people won't understand. When he was actually in school he never seemed to get any sort of a good grade except maybe in art class. Really though, he's the kid that you can go to for most any fact about Star Wars that you need to know. Along with that he happens to know a plethora of big words. Usually he picked up on those by just reading a lot when he was growing up. And as odd as it might seem, he knows a lot about computers. Now, he isn't one of those kids that spends hours trying to figure everything out about them. He can however put together a hard drive that'll work better then most everybody else's that you'll ever find. Along with that he can hook up free internet and that's exactly what he's done with his mac book.
the confused kid
Most of the time Cory has no idea what's going on around him. He'll end up completely turned around from where he needs to be and walking in circles trying to figure out what's right in front of his face. He doesn't know what's going on in the world and really saying the wrong thing will confuse him beyond belief. If he understands things to be one way and he's informed that it's really the other way he'll end up freaking out for a little bit. Probably one of his most well-known face to any of Cory's friends is that of him standing there with wide eyes scratching himself on the head saying "huh." Just because he doesn't understand things it doesn't mean he's stupid, but he's simply just a guy that doesn't understand the simplest of things.
the rocker boy
Rock and roll, well that was pretty predictable. No matter how different Cory is from the clothes that he wears, he does still love the music most of his clothes (band shirts), symbolize. It was years ago that he discovered the underground punk scene and since then he'll say that it was one of the things that saved his life. He goes to concerts as often as he can and he's living a bit of a lifestyle that so many songs talk about. He's a drugged up fool living from pay check to paycheck. Most of the time that he's not working and alone he's blasting music louder then anybody would ever really know. There are all those teenagers running around in their skinny jeans and bright colors these days, but Cory is different from them. He is spending most of his time trying to get by in life and he's living the lives that they sing along to day after day. He doesn't care what the rest of the world has to say about him and he's not about to stop running his life the way he is just because they tell him to. Forever will his music be loud and forever will he keep showering once or twice a week and just living life the way he's always wanted to as twisted as that might sound based on his life at this point in time.
the runaway
Cory could be called a runaway for a million reasons. The most obvious is that he ran away from his actual home. He simply couldn't take it anymore and just did what he could for an escape. There are other reasons he could be considered a run away though. He's the type of kid that runs from all of his problems. The moment anything seems like it's going to take a turn for the worse he will just leave. While he's never been in a relationship, a lot of that has to do with is issues with sticking around. One of the reasons he hasn't ever had a girlfriend is that the doesn't stick around. The moment anything goes wrong in the girl he wants to date's life, he backs off. He just ignores them and slowly loses interest. It seems easier in his mind to not be around people that will just serve to aggravate him in some way and send him spiraling into a mood that he'd rather not spend his day in.
the fighter
As much as he regrets it afterwards, Cory isn't he type of guy to sit around and let the world move around him. He won't allow himself to be picked on without a reason and he won't just sit around letting things happen. Growing up he got into tons of fights, though even today he still finds himself coming back home with black eyes and a bloody lip. Sometimes he'll fight just because he wants to fight and other times it's because he's annoyed with something. Once upon a time he found out that fighting ends up with him relieving some stress and really that just makes him feel better in the end and there's nothing that he likes more then feeling nice about himself. Sure it ends up with him getting taken to jail for questioning from time to time, but it's something he isn't about to stop. He's not an angry person, he's simply just a person that tends to get mixed up the wrong side of things with people. While he doesn't always mean bad sometimes bad things happen and he's ready to fight to make sure he doesn't end up hurt in the end.
the lover
Despite all the fighting it really isn't that hard to see that Cory is a completely lovable sort of guy. He's always ready to do all that he possibly can to end up with a nice big hug at the end of the day. He's the guy that will tackle friends and hug them as well as just put on that cute little face to try to make up for the things he does. Most of the time he really prefers not to fight with people and he'd rather just try to figure things out by either running away from them or talking about them if they're a small enough problem. that though doesn't always seem to be happening. Most of the time he just comes off as a kid that just fights people for the fun of it. Really he's just the type of kid that will fight if need be, but prefers to cuddle on the couch at the end of the day.
the friend
The moment you get past any insecurities and stuff that Cory might have, he ends up revealing how great of a friend he can be. He's always there for anybody that he's close to and he's ready to take on the world. He's the type of guy that makes all of his friends feel like they're his best friends whether he really knows them all that well or not. Sometimes he feels like he's been living a life that is much older then he is and wants to guide his friends through issues that he knows about. While he won't be around for an emotional breakdown, he'll be there to take somebody in for a few days if they don't have a place to stay or to take them to find food. He won't go completely out of his way to hurt himself for a friend, but he'd still do what he knows he can to help.
the enemy
The moment you get on Cory's bad side you're seen as an enemy. You could easily have just been trying to help him and he'll just hate you for it. Of course when he is somebody's enemy it isn't pretty. That person will become the biggest receiver of the fury that sometimes takes over his entire body. He'll fight and call people names just because he likes the way it makes him feel. He's not the type of guy to just ignore the people he doesn't like. Instead, he pulls them out of a crowd and will tear them down. It's one of the reasons that people believe he's a bigger ass then he actually is. They think he's just picking on people with no reason and well, in his mind he really does have a reason.
the issues
Cory is a boy that's filled with problems. From his issues with ADHD to slight bipolar disorder he has to take millions of pills each day. He doesn't pay attention very well and he's always fidgeting about. The only real thing that ever gets annoying is that he's always popping pills it seems. No matter how many people think he's some sort of freak e addict, he's supposed to take the pills. He has to balance out all the chemical issues he has. He has serious ADHD to the point where if he doesn't take the medicine he'll walk out of the middle of doing somebody's tattoo or end up getting really oddly jumpy. If he doesn't take prozac he'll end up spending an entire day spilling his issues to the world and talking about how stupid his life is at all moments in time. Then from there he might start to beat on somebody for trying to help him and really it just gets messy. There are probably a few other issues inside of his mind such as fear of abandonment and commitment issues, but the only other really noticeable one is his obsessive compulsive disorder. He'll end up spending hours trying to get things just right and tends to perform a few odd rituals from time to time, but that is really the only thing that doesn't mess with his life. Only makes him late for work by a couple of minutes every couple of days. After all, it's not his fault if he has to lock the door five different times.
the untrusting
Trust is a huge issue with Cory. He's the type of guy that takes a few months to really end up getting his trust. While he will be friends with people he doesn't really know, he'll end up trusting them for a while. For a boy that's always ended up getting let down he really doesn't like getting his hopes up. He doesn't like sharing his secrets with people because he really isn't sure if they'll get spread about. The last thing he wants is for a bunch of people he's talked to one time knowing everything about his past. It doesn't take much to gain his trust, just letting him realize that you're not going to stab him in the back and the only way for that to happen is to spend time with him. It might take some time, but he will eventually trust you, unless you fuck things up.
the scaredy cat
Cory is the type of kid that gets scared about the smallest things. He can't watch scary movies or else he won't be able to sleep for the next week or so. Anybody that tries to sneak up on him is bound to end up getting some sort of a hand to their face or some part of their body. If you catch him off guard there's a chance of ending up with a boy stuck in a tree. Paranoia is something that he's suffered from for most of his life really. He won't walk around completely alone in the middle of the night and if he is he probably has some sort of weapon on him. No, he doesn't own a gun, but he does own a saw and a tattoo gun. For such a tough looking guy he ends up coming off as a complete and total weirdo that can't keep calm if a twelve year old girl came up behind him.
the hyper kid
Despite the medicine that he takes to keep himself focused, Cory is a completely energized sort of being. He's always bouncing off the walls and talking nonstop. When he isn't focusing on something he's usually wiggling around and thinking about something or another. He'll laugh about the most random things as well as decide that he really needs to run around. Some people believe that his energy comes from nowhere, and maybe it does, but either way he has the energy. One moment he'll be looking ready to fall asleep and the next he'll be running into the park and jumping onto the first free swing he can find. When he's hyper it's probably the happiest that most anybody ever sees him, but it really is some sort of an extreme happy.

Overall History:
act 1 scene 1; the meeting
It was the year 1983. It was at the opening of Justin Miller's art gallery that Janet Harnett met the boy that she loved more then anything else in this world. The two of them first ended up meeting because they'd stopped in front of the same photograph. It was one that Justin had seen a million times before. That night the two of them soon ended up on their very first date. Things hit off, though for a while it seemed like nothing would come of it. Janet didn't hear from Justin for a while and so, she started to date more, but then one day she got a call from the male. He said he'd gone out of town for a while and asked for another chance. After a bit of convincing from her friends, Janet finally agreed to the date. After that date, things got more serious. Soon the two were officially dating and then it seemed like six months had passed too quickly and Justin was meeting Janet's parents. The family fell in love with the artsy boy from the city and well, he soon became part of the family.
The two dated for about two years before Justin finally proposed. Janet had just found out she was pregnant and was so unsure about everything. It was near christmas time next to the tree in the middle of the city. She accepted with tears in her eyes. It was about three months later that they were married in the church that Janet grew up attending. It was a glorious wedding, though the dress did have a little bump where the yet to be born Cory was living at that moment in time. The two were married as usual and they were ready to be off and be a happy family. Along with that they moved into a new york city apartment together.
act 1 scene 2; the pregnancy
The pregnancy was something that was a little bit strange. The two had been sleeping together for a few months, but Janet had been on the pill. One of those that are supposed to help at least 98% of the time. Well, the night that Cory was conceived that pill decided that it wasn't going to work. Of course thinking that they had no worry neither of them had thought about Justin wearing a condom and well, about a month later Janet was breaking the news about little Cory to the rest of the world. Things for the ceremony were a little bit rushed. They wanted to have it as fast as possibly because Janet didn't want to be huge on her wedding and well, they really didn't want to wait until the end of the pregnancy to have the wedding. Anyway, along with having to plan a wedding, the two were dealing with a child that everything seemed to be going wrong with. It was growing slower then it should have been and about five months in she ended up going into false labor.
The last two months were a bit of a push, but they got through it okay. Considering some of the complications early on in the pregnancy, the two ended up having to pay for a few more hospital visits then most would have to. It was a little over eight months when she finally went into labor. They rushed to the hospital and three hours later Cory came into this world 6 pounds and 18 inches.
act 2 scene 1; the life
Once things got settled in life wasn't all that bad at all. Actually, it was better then that. Janet had time off from work so she was always around to take care of the boy for the first few months. After that they called in a nanny to watch him during the day. Cory had an abundance of toys and he always seemed like a happy kid. When it came to certain things such as being able to grab onto toys and other things it took a month longer then it did most kids, but in the end he wasn't that far behind as far as his growth went. His nanny would always tell his parents about what a happy boy he was. It seemed that he was always babbling about something or another and it didn't seem like he was ever going to shut up about it. She predicted that he was going to be a bright young boy growing up.
act 2 scene 2; the growth
Growing up Cory was a rather happy boy. He was always playing with all of the other kids and making up games. He talked in hiw own language a lot of the time, but that wasn't all that he spoke in, he could speak english. A preschool teacher did however notice the boy seemed to jump around in what he was doing rather often and told the family to watch out for that sort of a thing. She said that it would probably pass, but there was always the lingering chance that it wouldn't end up passing and that he'd end up being an ADHD child.
Other then the attention issues, Cory grew up rather normal. Friends were always over and his favorite toys were the toy cars. Legos were always scattered around causing his dad to curse most of the time when he came home to find a lego stuck to the bottom of his shoe or shocks. He was punished as a normal boy would be and was never really bad at taking his punishment.
act 2 scene 3; the sister
Five years after giving birth to their first child, Janet and Justin were expecting again. Janet worried that things would all go wrong again with the next one, but it turned out completely different. Instead the two ended up with a beautiful baby girl in their possession and she really was a beautiful girl. Being fans of C names they named the girl Courtney. Cory hated her. He hated having to watch his parents spend time with this other being and he hated her having all of his old toys. Even as she grew older they never really got along. Basically he ignored her as best as he could and would get mad the moment she woke him up in the middle of the night or early morning.
act 2 scene 4; the schooling
School was never anything that came easy to Cory. It seemed like he was always doing everything wrong in his mind. When all of the other kids were writing sentences he was still working on trying to figure out exactly how to write all of his letters. It wasn't until about a month or so, as things usually went with Cory, after everybody else that he was able to form words and sentences with his writing. The rest of elementary school continued on like that. It was when he reached third grade that the teacher suggested a testing for ADHD. In the end they decided that the boy had it. To begin with they tried not doing anything except trying to help keep him focused longer, but that didn't seem to work. By the time he was in fifth grade he was being prescibed pills, though his mother was completely against it. She hated the idea of her baby boy having to take pills every day for the rest of his life.
In middle school things continued the same way. The only real thing was that he became a little bit of an outcast. He didn't mean to lose his friends, but it just sort of happened. He became a little bit antisocial despite once being a bright social sort of boy. Sometimes he would act out in class and there were days that he'd come home in tears over nothing at all. He's come home though and when his mom would try to talk to him he'd end up just perking up right away. They didn't want to think that there was anything wrong with the boy so they chose to ignore it all. Instead they just tried to keep him focused on his grade, which were far lower then they'd prefer. Most of his grades ranged from the middle sixties to high seventies. Anything above an eighty was something that his parents rejoiced about.
It still seemed as though his sister got all the attention though. Cory would get an eighty and she'd come home with all eyes and get some sort of a party. He'd just end up feeling like he was being put on the back burner and he'd complain about it at times. Along with that his parents seemed to always be fighting about something or another and he probably would have felt worse if he'd realized that it was his mental welfare that they were arguing about.
act 3 scene 1; the teasing
He was an outcast. He'd been that way for his entire stay in middle school and moving into high school as well. Nobody really wanted to talk to him and he didn't blame them. He was the weird kid that had tried to give himself a tattoo in the back of math class. They would make fun of him for wearing tighter jeans or because he tended to wear the same shirt three days in a row. It was something that he always tried to ignore, but he didn't seem to always be able to. It was something that always seemed to bring him down even further. At home his sister was getting to be in second grade when he was in seventh and she'd even taken to calling him names in front of her friends. His parents continued to ignore him and he really only had two good friends in school. Part of him believed that it would pass, but mostly he felt like there were only two people in the world that cared about him up until the end of ninth grade. It was because of his constant weeping after school though that his parents took him to the psychologist and he was pronounced bipolar.
act 3 scene 2; the rebellion
At times it seemed like nobody, not even the teachers cared what he was up to anymore, so Cory started to disregard all the rules. He skipped classes because most of them just frustrated him. He'd sneak out of the house and into concerts for bands he wanted to see. It was at these concerts that he found himself starting to make friends. These were people he actually believed he'd be able to connect with for really the rest of his life. Still, he wasn't happy with is life. He started to find though that the more rules he broke the happier it made him. So, for once in his life he decided to be happy and broke whatever rules he could ending with him getting a pretty twisted reputation in school. Some kids feared him because they thought his next stunt would be to pull a gun out; some wanted to be his best friend.
He did get caught shopping lifting from time to time. He really doesn't get phased by any of it anymore. He runs from the cops as fast as he possibly can and if he gets caught simply shrugs it off and will even volunteer to call his parents. It makes the cops apprehensive, but Cory really will call home. He learned that breaking the rules ended up getting him the attention that he had always wants. He didn't care how many different things ended up getting on his record as long as he was getting attention for it. In his mind attention is attention and whether it be bad or good it was better then being ignored.
act 4 scene 1; the separation
It seemed as though the fighting between Janet and Justin seemed to be getting worse and worse. Whenever Cory would enter the room they'd suddenly end up shutting up. He never realized that the two were fighting about him until he walked in one day to find his mom pushing his pills into her father's face saying something about the side effects. Everyday seemed to be filled with fighting and one morning he woke up to find his mother sitting at the counter with her head in her hands. His father had walked out the night before and the seperation started.
Part of him always believed that they'd get back together, but things only got worse. As time went on they saw each other less and soon they were doing the divorce settlement and his dad was talking about this new women he was dating. It took a completely different toll on Janet. She ended up falling really into alcoholism and the kids were always trying to take care of her and make sure she got to her classes to teach. It was hard for a while, but soon she ended up finding a guy and they started to date. It seemed to be just what she needed to get back into her old way of living.
act 4 scene 2; the new friend
During his mother's alcoholism, Cory did what he could to stay away from his home. It was then that he ended up hanging out moree with friends that he'd only talk to online. Through these friends he met Kennedy Michaels. Kennedy was a tattoo artist in training. He was close to being able to actually be a full artist, but he wasn't quiet there. One of the nights they were hanging out Cory and him got to talking. The male gave Cory his first real tattoo. It was then that he decided what he wanted to do for the rest of his life really. The male became such an influence on the male that soon he was getting tattoos all over the place. His mom hated it, but she lived with it and his dad just didn't see them enough for Cory to even listen to what the male said. At age sixteen he started his official training to become a tattoo artist.
act 4 scene 3; the time to choose
When he hit eleventh grade things got a bit out of hand. Cory was still one of the only kids left that hadn't had a girlfriend or done anything, but there were other things going on in his life. He wanted to and was being asked to spend more time at the parlor that he was learning the craft at, but school was getting in the way. Along with that he had to chose what type of person he wanted to be. Instead of taking the path that his mom wanted and staying in school and keeping things straight, he decided to do more what he wanted. He dropped a handful of classes and would often not come home for a day or two. All his time was spent with his new friends doing drugs and just talking about lots of random stuff.
act 4 scene 4; the dropout
Things started to get hectic. Halfway through junior year, Cory officially dropped out of high school. The day after his mother basically screamed at him until she went and drank a few bottles of vodka and cried herself to sleep. Her boyfriend came over later on and well, he pretty much spent the whole next day that she was working glaring at Cory until he left the house to head down to the shop. He hadn't been learning all that much yet, but he was loving each and every single day of it. Mostly he cleaned up and did a drawing here and there, but they told him usually to watch and that's what he did. He watched as much as he could picking it all up.
act 5 scene 1; the runaway
It was the summer before what would be his senior year. His mother came home with a ring on her finger and told Cory that he either had to go back to school or leave. He'd had a rough day and ran into the cops as well when he'd been buying some beer (his fake ID was caught). The women blew up on him and really things just went a bit crazy. When his mom told him that he had to decide between living at home or not based on going to or not going to school, he decided to just leave. In the middle of the night he gathered up all the things he really thought he'd need including a small suitcase of clothes and a tattoo needle that he'd received as a gift to start to practice. He found himself at Kennedy's house telling him he wanted to go to the west coast. The male lent him the money and called up a tattoo parlor there to arrange for a job.
It was a plane ride later and realizing that he'd figured out a job and not a place to live for him to find himself at California. The night was spent outside of the tattoo parlor and well, in the morning they thought he was a hobo until he explained who he was. It took some time, but soon he found that he'd fit in. He didn't bother to tell any of the guys and the girl that worked there that he didn't have a place to stay and spent his first six months there living on the street and really hating most of it. He didn't end up wanting to waste his money befor ehe earned enough to pay rent for a few months, so he lived with it.
act 5 scene 2; the savior
One day when he was out wondering around with the guys after work he found a bartender. The two talked for a while and well, in the end it ended up coming up that Cory didn't have a place to live. Patrick Oberst was his name and after talking it over with the tattoo parlor guys he decided to offer the extra room in his three room apartment to Cory. Cory took it after figuring that he wouldn't have to pay nearly as much rent as he would if he was living on his own. It took some time, but after Patrick pulled his ass out of the gutter about five times Cory started to look at the boy like some sort of a saviour. They're close friends and really Cory figures he'd be dead without the boy. He still lives from paycheck to paycheck because he's always off buying different sorts of clothes or CDs that he really doesn't even need. So he doesn't eat as much as he should, but he's been living in the same place for six years now.
act 5 scene 3; the new life
It was when he turned twenty-one that the guys at the parlor gave him his final tests. From that moment on he was officially what he'd trained for five years to be. He became a tattoo artist. He's been that way since. At this point he has yet to have a girlfriend or even kiss a girl. He thinks he might have feelings for his roommate, but doesn't even know if he's bisexual. Mostly he's still in the dark about a lot of thigns and basically poor beyond all belief, but things are starting to look up for the most part. Still, he finds himself worrying so much about what his life really was like. Since he ran away from his home he hasn't talked to his parents at all. He hasn't talked to his sister either since basically he hates the girl. He hates his mother and he hates his father. He's one of those guys that needs to much help in the world, but refuses to admit to it though. Perhaps it's merly a love in his life that he's missing since he's never really felt anything like love.
